Singer Jewel and husband Ty Murray have welcomed a son. His name is Kase Townes Murray and he was born last Monday in Texas. Kase arrived at 7 pm (US time) and weighed in at 7 pounds and 6 ounces. “We are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy into the world,” said singer Jewel and Murray, a professional bull rider.
“We are overcome with happiness - it really is as great as everyone told us it would be - better even!” Jewel found out she was pregnant on the first day of her job co-hosting Bravo’s Platinum Hit: “I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. It was so hard to keep it a secret.” The Grammy-nominated singer, 36, had struggled to conceive, then was hit by a fire truck in March in her fifth month of pregnancy.
She was released from hospital after tests concluded that she and her unborn child were unharmed. Jewel and Ty Murray - co-founder of the Professional Bull Riders, nine-time world champion and a colour commentator married in a beach ceremony in the Bahamas in 2008.
